I’m a wife, parent, step-parent, a PTO board member, and everything else that you can think of that fits under those categories. What does that mean? It means I’m busy ALL. THE. TIME.
I have got three kids in my household, one with a special schedule and two that are here 24/7/365. My four-year-old has JRA so he has several doctors, plus regular doctor appointments for everyone else, vacations/trips, school functions for my step-son, special holidays, work functions, and family functions. My calendar fills up quickly.
How do I mange to keep track of everything? It all starts with a really nice calendar, a few of them. I have a yearly calendar that I high-light days we have my step-son; weeks 1-3, every Thursday thru Monday and weeks 4-5 Monday thru Wednesday, as well as the holiday schedule, but not including summer vacation plans; I make copies of this for the school, and my copy gets hung on the fridge with a copy of the holiday schedule. Then I have a yearly “planner” that has pick ups, holidays, appointments, birthdays, meetings, etc. That is my calendar that I mainly rely on to keep my up to date. Finally, I have a dry erase monthly calendar that hangs at the foot of the stairs in the living room; everything from my planner gets moved over, this helps with last minute things.
Hanging on the wall next to my monthly calendar, I have upcycled old formula containers to hold mail, both incoming and outgoing. It has helped keep my kitchen counters a bit cleaner. I also purchased dry erase “menu” from Amazon (you can purchase the same one here: https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Refrigerator-Chalkboard-Shopping-16inchx12inch/dp/B01JJ1MQSY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1531357294&sr=8-3&keywords=dry+erase+menu). This is great for meal planning, its cut down on the age old question “what’s for dinner” and gives me a convenient area to write down a shipping list.
Its hard to find time for myself in the midst of all the cooking, school work, appointments and everything else. I thought starting one of those “bullet journals” would be very beneficial. And it was, for a while. I eventually got so busy that I neglected it for a while, and I mean months. My doctor recently talked me into starting it back up again. Its nice. There is so much you can do with it and it helps me remember things about my day.
I’m currently working on ways to get more organized, my sanity may depend on it. I’ve got a good start going and having Pinterest around certainly helps. If you have any ideas, throw them my way. I certainly appreciate it. Check out our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest for some organization tips (as well as recipes, gardening, diy, etc). https://www.pinterest.com/buzzymoms/
In the mean time, here are some photos of my Bullet Journal and my month of June. 🙂
