With the coming of the cold months it’s time to prepare. One of my family’s favorite seasonal beverage is hot chocolate. I’ve been making my own coca mix and gifting it to my daughters, other family members and friends for years. I was given this recipe by my sister-n-law, Tina. Her family always made this fabulous stuff growing up and we were fortunate enough to have her share with us.
It’s easy to make, inexpensive and oh, so delicious.
Here is what you’ll need: Remember, I make a big batch of this so don’t be surprised by the amounts.
- 4 lbs of powered milk
- 2 lbs of Coffee Creamer
- 2 lbs of powder sugar
- 2 lbs of your favorite chocolate drink mix
- 2 cups of cocoa powder (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of salt (also optional), I usually omit this.
We usually grab a new trash bag (non scented), dump all the ingredients into the trash bag and combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight containers, this will store in a cool place for a few months, but really around here it never last that long. I usually end of making another batch to help us relax and enjoy the cold we get here in Michigan.
To make drink: Add 3-4 Tablespoons of mix to hot water and stir until all is dissolved. Top with Marshmallows, whip cream, the sky is the limit what ever your favorite hot chocolate toppings may be.
