Have you ever gotten so overwhelmed that it froze you? I’m currently going through that. I have so much I’m trying to do/want to do that I don’t know where to start and don’t because I feel so flustered. It makes it hard to get anything done, I honestly don’t understand it. My to do list isn’t even that crazy but my brain believes it is because I can’t slow down to work on or finish one thing before starting the next.

Here’s an example of my list:

  • Plan wedding shower
  • Fix kitchen sink
  • Finish making the kitchen decor I started months ago
  • Get back to dog training
  • Don’t forget to feed everyone today

Yeah, it’s been one of those weeks where I forget to make dinner. I’m burnt out, for me, once this happens it usually takes me a while to get back into the groove of things. I haven’t exactly gotten back into my routine but here are a couple things I did to help calm myself. First, I wrote a list of everything I want done or a new hobby I’m trying to add to my life. It helped because now I’m not telling myself to also do this or that; I’m happy to say that after a few days of having this new list I was able to cross a couple things off it. Write a list and add some easy things on there because you feel like you have your life together once you cross one or two things off.

Next thing that I am doing to try to calm my head is clean my house. I clean pretty much everyday, but I am clean-cleaning it right now. Walls, windows, organize toys and closets; time to switch out your seasonal clothes. I do this once a month and it takes me a few days to do it so don’t beat yourself up if you can’t finish it in a day. My house is a tri-level home so I will start from either the upstairs or in our basement. If you don’t want to clean up your whole house that’s fine too, just do one room. This is calming because it’s something that can be controlled. If your kids are crazy like mine, focus on one room that they don’t tear apart, like your bedroom. After my kids repeatedly tore apart my room I made it a rule for them to ask for permission before they can come in.

If you have your own way of clearing your head, please do it. Times are crazy right now, our state is still in a Stay at Home Order and it will most likely be extended again. Anything to keep your head up is a win.
